Road trip!
September is prime time to cruise past aspen-studded lakes, lunar landscapes, and ghost towns on California’s Highway 395.

Put a bird on it
A hairpiece made of chocolate (!), a puppet museum, and, of course, a whole lot of great beer—this New York Times video of Portland shows the city at its fun, quirky best.

Raise a pint
Carlsbad celebrates suds again with its 2nd annual Brewfest Saturday (noon – 4:30).

Who knew? Southwest Wyoming is home to a UFO landing strip. Wow.

Something fishy
San Francisco kicks off its first Sustainable Seafood Week (Sept. 13 – 20) on Sunday, followed by events around the Bay, including a sustainable-seafood crawl through Fisherman’s Wharf.
